About the Firm:

Offering a significant amount of inherited business, our client is one of the largest financial services regulation teams in the city. They pride themselves on a highly supportive but commercial atmosphere, with a minimum of internal politics, focused on client success.

Role Overview:

They are seeking a seasoned legal professional to join their regulatory team as a Partner. This role is ideal for someone with a robust understanding of financial regulations, credible market presence, and the ability to independently generate and manage client work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Expertise: Handle both contentious and non-contentious regulatory matters, including enforcement actions, tribunal dealings, and board-level advisory.
  • Client Relations: Maintain and build relationships with key stakeholders, including financial institutions and regulatory bodies such as the FCA.
  • Business Development: Actively generate new business, leveraging personal connections and market credibility.
  • Training and Mentorship: Provide training to clients on market abuse, FCA dealings, and regulatory compliance. Mentor junior associates within the team.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with a large team of partners and associates, contributing to a collaborative and non-aggressive environment.


  • Experience: this role would suit someone who has previously held a Partnership-level position within a regulation team at a law firm. Book-size is less important than credibility.
  • Credibility: Demonstrable ability to command respect and trust at board level and with regulatory authorities.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of financial regulations, including authorizations, enforcement actions, and compliance.
  • Business Acumen: track record of generating business and managing high-stakes client relationships.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with a commitment to mentoring and developing junior team members.
