Our client, one of the largest international Energy and Climate Change Groups, is seeking an experienced Of Counsel to join their team in their London Headquarters.

​

The Firm

  • You will work alongside a highly experienced team, who are consistently ranked within the top tier of league tables within Energy and Climate Change and act as a subject matter expert and add an in-depth understanding of all aspects of commercial energy transactions.

  • The practice has established, designed and implemented frameworks across 60 countries with recent emphasis on modern energy markets and has been uniquely placed to help shape its present and future, areas of expertise include offshore and onshore wind, interconnectors and networks, energy storage, solar, electric vehicles, hydrogen, nuclear, carbon capture and storage and digitisation of the energy systems.

  • The role will offer you exposure to the full spectrum of areas in this sector, including commercial, regulatory, M&A and projects work. The culture within the firm is known with the market for collaboration and proactively recognizing work and value add.

About You

To support our valued clients in the fast-moving energy transition landscape, we are looking for candidates with a future facing mindset. You should have:

  • Solid experience, 8+ years PQ gained in private practice and/or in-house within the UK or other common law jurisdiction

  • Experience drafting and negotiating power purchase agreements with limited oversight and ability to counsel a dynamic multinational trading team offering timely and practical legal guidance.

  • Strong understanding of contractual terms governing the purchase and sale of energy and a deep knowledge of industry best practices and UK and international regulations impacting energy trading.

  • Strong business acumen coupled with excellent communication skills.

  • A positive role model, who will actively share knowledge and contribute to the development of less experienced lawyers in the team
