It's market-leading practice is seeking an exceptional associate to join a standout defence-side practice in London. This is a rare opportunity to work at the heart of many of the UK’s most complex and high-profile competition disputes, including collective proceedings and antitrust damages actions.
Led by a highly respected Partner in the field, the team is known for acting in landmark cases and delivering results on strategically important, high-value disputes. The working environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and intellectually demanding — ideal for ambitious Associates looking to work on cutting-edge matters.
Practice & Clients
The team defends corporates, multinationals, and financial institutions facing claims before the UK High Court and Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT), often involving follow-on damages claims and opt-out collective actions. Clients span sectors including transport, tech, financial services, energy, telecoms, and life sciences.
Alongside contentious work, the practice also advises on regulatory investigations, market studies, and arbitration proceedings with competition elements, operating across jurisdictions such as the UK, EU, and wider global markets.
Responsibilities
Assist in the defence of large-scale competition damages and class action proceedings.
Draft submissions and correspondence for the CAT, High Court, and appellate courts.
Liaise with clients, counsel, and regulators in the context of litigation and investigations.
Conduct legal research and support strategic case planning.
Get involved in arbitral proceedings where competition issues arise.
Contribute to business development and client relationship initiatives.
Candidate Profile
This role will suit Associates with between18 months' and 6 years' PQE gained in a well regarded law firm, excellent academics and interpersonal skills. You will combine strong litigation skills and an interest in competition and regulatory law. Prior experience of CAT proceedings, collective actions, or follow-on damages claims will be advantageous. Strong written advocacy, commercial judgment, and organisation to work on large, complex cases are key.
