Goldmans Appoints White House Counsel Ruemmler as Head of Regulatory Affairs

Goldman Sachs have appointed former White House Counsel as their Global Head of Regulatory Affairs. Kathryn Ruemmler joins from law firm Latham & Watkins. She will be based in their New York office.

Prior to joining Goldman Sachs Ruemmler advised Barack Obama at the White House. At Latham & Watkins Ruemmler led the white collar defence and investigations practice.

Ruemmler will oversee regulatory infrastructure and interactions with regulators. She will also join Goldman Sachs’ regulatory reform steering group as Co-Chair. Ruemmler will sit on the firmwide reputational risk committee.

During the Obama administration, Ruemmler served in the Department of Justice and latterly as counsel to the president. She also worked in the Clinton administration.
